UAE national buys 810 basketful of dates for Dh1 million during Liwa festival

Liwa: The fourth Liwa dates festival, which came to a triumphant end on Saturday, witnessed several breathtaking events, including auction of produces by local farmers.

In a public auction attended by a cheering crowd, an Emirati bought 810 basketful of juicy dates for Dh1 million. Mohammad Atiq Al Hamili made the bid to encourage local dates growers in the western region.

A large crowd from various nationalities visited the festival; the organisers have vowed to make the festival the largest in the world.
