Santa Anita stakes winner Tsigane, one of five American contenders in the $2million Dubai Gold Shaheen (Gr 1), continued his unhurried preparation for Saturday's six furlong sprint with a steady canter around the Nad Al Sheba track yesterday.

After watching the former French-based short-distance specialist work assistant trainer Daniel Drouet reported: "He's doing very good. He's improving every day.

"He will work five furlongs tomorrow, hopefully in 59, and that will tell is more about his condition."

Drouet, who revealed that Tsigane's trainer Julio Canani will arrives this week, believes the horse has every chance in the Shaheen.

"I think he has a big chance, otherwise we would not be here," said Drouet. "It's a very tough race, so many good sprinters, but I have a good feeling about this horse. He likes it here and hopefully, he will run well."
