Dubai: Two women were killed and five people sustained injuries in separate road accidents over the weekend.
The two women were killed when their car overturned on Hatta Road in Mahdha state, Oman, on Saturday. The duty officer at Hatta Police Station received a call for help from one of the Omani Royal Police traffic patrols.
The accident was near Al Rawdha petrol station. Five Indian people were in the car. The accident took place due to speeding. The driver lost control of the vehicle. The two women died on the scene, and two children and the driver sustained serious injuries.
The injured were transferred to Rashid Hospital by Dubai Police's air wing helicopter.
In another accident, a motorist sustained injuries when a truck hit his car, parked on the side of the road at Nad Al Hammar.
Rescue teams used hydraulic equipment to free him.
Another man also sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to hospital after a separate accident on Emirates Road on Sunday.
