Dubai: Two people were killed in separate road accidents in the past two days, pushing the death toll caused by traffic accidents to four since the beginning of this year.
Police said a young man was killed near Al Warqa roundabout after a collision between a car and a quad bike on Thursday night. The quad bike rider was killed on the spot as a result of the impact.
In a separate accident, a Pakistani man was killed after a car ran him over in Jebel Ali on Friday.
Police said the Indian motorist is suspected to have been driving under the influence of alcohol. The two fatalities bring the death toll of people killed in road accidents in Dubai since the beginning of the new year reached to four.
A senior traffic police official called on motorists to abide by traffic rules, speed limits and pay more attention while driving.
