Dubai: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed a series of major traffic enhancements on Street 34 in Al Barsha South 1, marking a significant step in improving road safety, traffic flow, and infrastructure within the residential community.

The project was initiated in direct response to community feedback and is part of RTA’s broader efforts to support Dubai’s urban development through sustainable and efficient mobility solutions.

One of the key improvements includes the development of four new entry and exit points along Street 34. These enhancements have significantly eased vehicle movement in the area, reducing travel time in and out of the neighbourhood from five minutes to less than one.

In addition, RTA has added 158 new parking spaces and constructed continuous sidewalks to streamline parking activity, reduce random roadside parking, and vehicle movement.

To further support smoother traffic flow, a new U-turn was constructed at the junction of Street 34 and Al Hadaeq Street, enabling better accessibility and optimising the use of the newly built access points.

Commenting on the project, Hussain Al Banna, CEO of RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency, said: “The enhancements in Al Barsha South reflect RTA’s ongoing commitment to building a safer and more efficient road network in residential areas. These developments are aligned with our leadership’s vision to improve quality of life by creating a sustainable, integrated transport system.”

Al Banna also highlighted RTA’s emphasis on pedestrian safety, noting the construction of seven new pedestrian crossings across internal roads in the area. These crossings aim to reduce conflicts between vehicles and pedestrians, especially in densely populated neighbourhoods.

Al Banna reaffirmed RTA’s commitment to implementing effective traffic solutions citywide, continuously engaging with residents to incorporate their feedback into future projects. These upgrades not only address current traffic needs but also align with Dubai’s strategic objective of enhancing liveability and creating a world-class urban environment for residents and visitors alike.
