Dubai: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) shattered previous records during its 118th open auction for exclusive vehicle number plates, held on Saturday evening, 26 April 2025, at the Grand Hyatt Dubai.

The event generated a staggering Dh98.83 million, marking the highest revenue ever achieved in the history of RTA plate auctions.

Leading the high-profile bids was the coveted plate number CC 22, which was sold for Dh8.35 million. It was followed by BB 20, which fetched Dh7.52 million, and BB 19, securing Dh6.68 million. Other notable sales included AA 707 at Dh3.31 million and AA 222 at Dh3.3 million.

90 premium numbers

The auction featured 90 premium number plates across two- to five-digit combinations from 14 different codes, including AA, BB, CC, I, J, O, P, T, U, V, W, X, Y, and Z. While the total nominal value of the plates was Dh16.565 million, bidding enthusiasm drove the final figure nearly six times higher.

This milestone event reinforces the enduring appeal and credibility of RTA’s auction system — known for its transparency, equal opportunity, and symbolic value for plate collectors and enthusiasts alike.

Bidders

Bidders participated by registering via RTA’s website, mobile app, or in person at Customer Happiness Centres in Umm Ramool, Deira, and Al Barsha. To qualify, participants were required to hold a valid Dubai traffic file and submit a Dh25,000 security cheque, along with a non-refundable registration fee of Dh120. A 5% VAT was applicable on all sales.
