Motorists across UAE can now pay fines through ATMs

Dubai: Motorists across the UAE can now pay their Dubai Police traffic fines through Automated Teller Machines (ATM) or cash deposit machines as per an agreement between Dubai Police and Emirates National Bank of Dubai (NBD).

Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Acting Chief of Dubai Police, has signed an agreement with Emirates NBD, the banking group resulting from the merger of Emirates Bank and the National Bank of Dubai.

Ease procedures

Emirates Bank and National Bank of Dubai customers can inquire about their traffic fines and pay them through ATM machines, cash deposit machines and online banking through the BankNet service. Earlier, traffic fines were paid through Dubai Police's website www.dubaipolice.gov.ae or at police stations.

Motorist should have a bank account to use the facilities, but anyone can pay through cash deposit machines belonging to Emirates NBD bank.

There are 300 ATM machines that offer this service across the UAE in addition to 100 cash deposit machines. There is no extra charge to pay via this service.

Motorists can also use Dubai Police's kiosks to pay the fines in addition to Dubai Police's website. Major General Al Mazeina said Dubai Police is offering the service to ease the fine payment procedures and save the public time and effort.

"At Dubai Police, we aim to reach to 100 per cent in offering electronic services. This new service will be available for everyone and not just Emirates NBD customers," he said.

Mohammad Al Falasi, Head of Alternative Channels at Emirates Bank, said motorists can inquire about their fines through ATM machines by their traffic file number, the fine number, the driving licence number or car number plate.
