As part of the Dubai The City That Cares 2002, the Second Ramadan International Products Fair and Smart Fun Expo opens today in halls one, two and three of the Dubai World International Exhibitions Centre.

The two events will run from today until December 4.

Organised by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), Smart Fun Expo is a series of workshops offering education for children. It is aimed at enhancing children's learning abilities through the use of enjoyable and entertaining methods.

Organised by Mediac Communication and Promotion, the Second Ramadan International Products Fair 2002 will showcase a variety of goods from the local market, the Middle East, Europe, Africa and the Far East.

The fair will also include Dubai Charity Forum IV, with 22 stands for charity and non-profit organisations, in addition to money donations towards the end of it.

"Children are our focus this year. We want to be able to offer them as much as we can during Dubai The City That Cares 2002 through the Smart Fun Expo, a DCCI initiative for children," explained Thani Juma Berregad, Dubai The City That Cares chief coordinator.

"Ramadan International Products Fair 2002 is the venue for wholesalers and retailers to promote new products and brands to consumers while at the same time contributing to the good causes associated with this year's Dubai City That Cares, namely the Red Crescent and Unicef," said Nuha Safar, Dubai The City That Cares deputy chief co-ordinator.

The 5,000-square metre Second Ramadan International Products Fair 2002 will showcase technology products, décor items, fashion goods and educational products. It will also celebrate the culture, heritage and traditions of Dubai and the UAE with live shows and entertainment.

In 2001, more than 35,000 people visited the First Ramadan International Products Fair, and this year, DCCI expects the wide variety of consumer and luxury items on offer to draw more visitors.

The Dubai The City That Cares 2002 runs from November 2 to December 12, and is sponsored by American Express, Dubai Islamic Bank, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Gold and Jewellery Group, Dubai Shopping Malls Group and Al Zarouni Group.
