Dubai: The Dubai Municipality is still awaiting information from the Qatari authorities regarding the recall of two brands of Head & Shoulders shampoo in Qatar, officials said.
Meanwhile, Procter & Gamble, manufacturers of the Head & Shoulders brand of shampoos, said in a press release that there had been some confusion on key aspects about articles recently published in Qatari newspapers talking about the safety of their two products.
No compromise
"Product safety and quality is Procter & Gamble's top priority. We do not compromise on safety. We follow the highest safety standards around the world. All our products and their ingredients comply with the most stringent safety regulations in each market where we operate," the statement said.
"Procter & Gamble does not add 1,4-dioxane to any of our Head & Shoulders products. 1,4-dioxane is an industry common, trace-level by-product in the production of a variety of products including cosmetics," the statement added.
Safe levels
"Virtually every major regulatory agency around the globe is aware of the trace levels of 1,4 dioxane in consumer goods, including cosmetic products, and have concluded that current levels and even much higher levels (up to 100ppm) are safe.
"We work closely with our suppliers to control and monitor levels of 1,4 dioxane in key ingredients to be sure that they are below safe levels and are in compliance with all national and global regulations."
