Shaikh Mohammad creates Dubai Media Affairs Office 'Brand Dubai'

Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has established the Dubai Media Affairs Office "Brand Dubai" to coordinate Dubai's strategic media affairs regionally and internationally.

Shaikh Mohammad also appointed Mona Ganem Al Merri as the new entity's Chief Executive Officer.

The new office will work on preserving and enhancing Dubai's image as an Arab city of international spirit and sensibility. The Dubai Media Affairs Office (DMAO) will encourage maximum exposure for Dubai's continuing achievements on economic, cultural and social matters.

Al Merri said Dubai Brand is entrusted with handling credible information about economic and social activities in Dubai for media reports and business requirements from Dubai and from all over the world.

"Dubai Brand will furnish media organisations with solid figures about business activities in the emirate and will make sure to reflect the true picture about what is happening in the country," she said.

She thanked Shaikh Mohammad for the trust he laid on her and promised to do whatever possible to support the propsperous image of Dubai in the region and throughout the world. She said Dubai Brand will work closely with Dubai government departments and authorities as well as non-government stakeholders.

Al Merri said that Dubai Brand is committed to making the access to information easier and elminating speculation about activities in the country. "The establishment of Dubai Brand is part of a general policy to ensure transparency in all aspects in Dubai," she said.

"It will facilitate greater communication and coordination among different organisations that are directly or non-directly responsible for Dubai's image," she continued.

Among Brand Dubai's other objectives are enhancing the media's accessibility to accurate information on various subjects related to Dubai, and facilitating greater interaction with Dubai government officials.
