RTA announces Dh4 b tram project

The Roads and Transport Authority on Tuesday unveiled a Dh4 billion Al Safooh tram project for Dubai.

The 14-km long light-rail system will stretch along Al Safooh road linking the Madinat Jumeirah and Mall of the Emirates with Dubai Marina and Jumeirah Beach Residence.

The network will span across 19 stations.

The RTA chairman Mattar Al Tayer said, “The new tram is a part of the 2020 transportation master plan which covers the Dubai Metro, tram, busses and marine lines.''
The tram will connect to the monorail of Palm Jumeirah.
