Dubai Police have issued a warning against the sale and use of illegal fireworks during Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr, emphasizing the severe penalties involved.

Strict penalties for violators

In a social media post, Dubai Police stated that trading in fireworks without a license is illegal and can result in at least one year of imprisonment and a fine of no less than Dh100,000. According to the law, individuals involved in importing, exporting, manufacturing, or selling fireworks without authorization will face strict legal consequences.

Authorities have launched a campaign to raise awareness, seize illegal fireworks, and enforce penalties against violators to ensure public safety.

Tragic incident highlights the dangers

In a recent awareness post, the UAE Public Prosecution shared a cautionary story about a man named Salem, who gave his son, Mohammed, money to buy fireworks for Eid celebrations. Ignoring the risks, Mohammed and his friends attempted to light the fireworks but struggled due to strong winds. As they moved closer to ignite them, a sudden explosion caused serious injuries, requiring hospitalisation.

Safety first: Parents' responsibility

The incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of fireworks, especially for children. Authorities urge parents to educate their children on the risks and prevent them from handling fireworks, regardless of their age.
