RAK strives to ensure safety of tourists

A committee set up by the Police Department to increase public awareness in the tourist area of Awafi conducted a major campaign and distributed brochures on safety on Thursday.

First Lieutenant Walid Kanfash said the brochures urged people to adhere to rules. Awafi gets crowded with tourists during this time of the year.

The Women's Section of the Police Department also took part in the campaign. A police station has been set up to monitor the area and offenders will be fined heavily. Lt. Kanfash said youngsters have the right to practice their hobbies, but they should take precautions.

Single men should stay away from family gatherings.
