Radio 1 launches news service

Radio 1 (104.1 & 100.5 FM) will commence an hourly news service as part of its regular broadcast on March 1, 2009.

Malak Harb, GNB's newest addition to Radio 1, will present the new feature in the morning from 6am – 1pm, and Radio 2 news veteran, Peter Crawford will take-over from 2pm – 7pm. The service will inform listeners of top of the hour news stories including local and global coverage, as well as information on local entertainment and events. Recent surveys conducted by Radio 1 provided insight that the average Radio 1 listener would prefer to have news coverage on their radio along with regular broadcast. “Radio 1 has always been famed for having a finger on the pulse of the country. This show will further enhance our connection with the UAE and the people who live here,'' said Simon Schooly, Head of Programming for Radio 1.

The Radio 1 News service premieres March 1st, at the top of the hour between 6am and 7pm on 104.1 and 100.5 FM.
