The ride aims to spread awareness about the risks associated with abuse of jet skis
Dubai: The Ports Police Station will organize a jet ski ride on Jumeira Beach on Friday in cooperation with the Dubai Maritime Authority and Dubai Marine Sports Club, it was announced on Monday.
The ride aims to spread awareness about the risks associated with abuse of jet skis and offer direct advice to users about practicing the sport safely, Brigadier Khalil Ebrahim Al Mansouri, Director of Dubai Police's Criminal Investigation Department, said.
"We want to offer advice and answer people's questions to ensure they use jet skis safely and reduce the risks and accidents they may face," he said, adding that the increasing demand for jet skis made it a necessity to carry out an awareness campaign.
The first gathering point for people who wish to take part will be Jumeira 1, opposite the fishermen's port at 3pm, from where the ride will head towards Jumeira Beach Residence.
The ride will include a show by the UAE Jet Ski Team and training sessions by specialists from Yamaha of Al Yousuf Motors and Al Masoud Marine, before returning to the starting point.
Brig Al Mansouri said the ride is a great opportunity to enjoy the ride track, which passes by the Palm Jumeira.
"The awareness campaign will continue throughout the year using different methods, such as flyers and security training programmes, while marine patrols will be increased to offer help and advice and monitor the beaches," he said.
