New taxi company to be launched in Sharjah in August

Sharjah: Sharjah Transport Corporation is set to launch a new taxi company in August to tackle taxi shortage in Sharjah.
Sharjah Taxi is expected to be launched on August 1 and will initially provide 55 cars to the public.

"Our goal is to have a total of 235 cars, which will be achieved in several stages. The first stage will have 55 cars and by September we are expected to launch 60 additional cars," said a senior official at Sharjah Transport Corporation (STC).

The STC is currently responsible for operating four franchise taxi companies that include Advantage Taxi, Union Taxi, City Taxi and Emirates Taxi.
