Municipality reinforces building safety standards
Dubai: Dubai Municipality’s Buildings Department has issued a circular to all consulting and contracting companies stipulating the height of handrails for balconies and swimming pools.
Eng Marwan Al Mohammad, acting director of the department, said the minimum height of handrails should be 90cm and so chidlren cannot climb through it.
A minimum 90cm fence around swimming pools was also stipulated. Swimming pools also have to have a lockable door and a warning system to protect children. (Staff Report)
