New luxury healthcare facility in Dubai
A new multi-disciplinary hospital in Dubai Healthcare City is taking luxury facilities in the UAE health sector to newer heights.
The 210 bed City Hospital was inaugurated on Wednesday by Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai.
The hospital boasts a special VIP floor equipped with suites that have a majlis, a dining area and a kitchen.
And that's not all.
The VIP guests can use the swimming pool, gymnasium, juice bar and spa facilities located on the top floor of the hospital. The pool area has views of Wafi City and the Sheikh Zayed skyline.
The hospital is managed by EHL management services (formerly known as Welcare World Health Systems).
The facilities like the swimming pool are purely for recreational purpose and to ensure a better healing environment, said Dr Ottmar Schmidt, Director of Marketing and Public relations, EHL management services.
For treatments like water therapy, the hospital also has a dedicated hydrotherapy facility.
While the management seemed visibly proud of the luxury facilities, they pointed out that quality care is the core focus for the hospital.
Danie Meintjes, CEO of EHL management services said: “We are glad that the hospital has a luxurious feel to it. There are hotel-like features but the key focus is on providing good clinical quality.''
Dr Ayesha Abdullah, senior vice-president of Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) said: “Any facility that opens up in the Dubai Healthcare sector has to pass through stringent licensing measures and quality checks.''
The City hospital already has international accreditation and will obtain the JCI accreditation within two years from the date of operations.
Pricing
With such luxurious facilities, it would appear quality care comes at a price.
“We would like to believe that our prices including the VIP facilities are appropriate, said David Hadley, Hospital Director. “We already have a tie-up with ALICO and Neuron insurance and we are looking to work with more insurance companies. This is evidence that our prices are appropriate.''
Digitally integrated hospital
The hospital has a fully digitally integrated system – which means patient records will online.
Even radiology reports can be saved in the online patient file. Meintjes said, “The hospital will be virtually paperless.''
Moreover, the Health Information System will be integrated with four other health centres as well as a hospital (Welcare) run by the same management.
Although the hospital is multispecialty, they have focused on certain areas like maternity and baby care.
Bridging the gap
The neonatal ICU ( NNICU) for premature babies is the first in the UAE to be accredited for Level 1 babies.
“We think maternity and neonatal is very important for this region and theatre is a huge undersupply. We already have fully equipped special ambulances to transfer premature babies from any other hospital to the neonatal ward here,'' said Schmidt.
The NNICU can accept neonates from any age and the neonatal ward has 12 incubator systems that are the most advanced in the market.
