New Lexus models to have GPS, Bluetooth
The 2004 model year LS430 and LX470 have been launched in the UAE by Al Futtaim Motors, featuring the latest in navigational systems, the Global Positioning System (GPS), Bluetooth and a back monitor camera.
"The installation of these new highly-advanced systems in the new LS430 and LX470 is one more step in our commitment to bringing complete ease of mind to Lexus drivers who are accustomed to driving the embodiment of luxury, quality and reliability," said Colin Leitch, managing director of Al Futtaim Motors.
"We leave no stone unturned in our quest to provide our customers with the best in driving experiences. No driver likes to be distracted or get lost, especially in unknown territory, and the GPS in our cars, programmed with the latest in road networks, prevents that happening."
The GPS system was developed by the US military at a cost of $12 billion, and it is still funded and controlled by the US Department of Defence using a constellation of 24 satellites and their ground stations. The satellites are used as reference points to calculate positions of users, including civilians.
