Nepal trounced Malaysia by eight wickets to finish on top of the Group B of the Asia Cup Under-15 Cricket tournament at the Dubai Cricket Council ground No.2 yesterday.
Nepal's bowling was again their strength and they restricted Malaysia to 109 for 8 in a match reduced to 34 overs.
Malaysia's total would have been much smaller but for No.9 batsman, Abdul Hadi's 39 (38b, 6x4) after they were at one stage 55 for 7.
Chasing the small total, openers Sunil Jain 42 (52b, 6x4) and Pawan Das (28) put on 78 runs for the opening wicket to ensure the victory in just 19.3 overs.
At the Abu Dhabi Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Kuwait defeated Singapore by three wickets. Lowchong Wei's 92 (100b, 10x4) was the highlight of the Singapore innings and they piled up 201 for 6 in 40 overs.
Maxmillan chipped in with 45 (78b, 2x4) to add 107 runs for the sixth wicket that enabled them to reach the big total. Nadeem (3 for 40) was the pick of the bowlers.
Chasing the target, Kuwait were indebted to their middle order and a generous dose of 46 extras including a whopping number of 39 wides that played a key role in their victory by 3 wickets. Man of the match, Nadeem had a good day when he stroked a quick 42 (20b, 6x4, 2x6) that allowed their team to surge to the total, while one-drop Hammad chipping in with 36 and Omer (23). At the Sharjah Stadium Hong Kong beat Maldives by 7 wickets. Hong Kong batted first and were bowled out for 136 in 34.5 overs. Mohammed Mahfooz (4 for 19) was the chief destroyer.
