The Ras Al Khaimah Port will be either shifted from its current location or covered to combat dust pollution.

Either one of these options will be implemented before the year-end. The Customs and Ports Department will study the effect of dust emanating from the port, which directly faces the department.

Mohammed Al Mehrizi, Director General of the Customs and Ports Department, said orders have been received from the Emiri Court signed by Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Ras Al Khaimah Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler, and sent directly to Sheikh Ahmed bin Saqr Al Qasimi, head of the department, to tackle the issue.

There is dust because of loading and unloading of goods, including sand. The port is surrounded by residential areas and it lies in the heart of the city and connects the city and Al Nakheel.
