Four years of hard work and effort has resulted in the formation of Id Idea Identity, an art and design exhibition on at the American University of Dubai until May 30.
The exhibition, comprising illustrations, photography and graphic design work, is open to public from 12.00 noon to 4.00pm.
This annual event is a stepping stone for the senior students who are now venturing into the business world. Each, with their individual ideas, has created their own identity, thus grooming themselves to carve a niche in the competitive market.
Nour Sarhan, a graduating student, has plans to go to Europe someday to pursue her Masters degree. "Painting with pastels is my passion. I like blending different colours giving my images a dreamy and surreal quality to it. With my Masters I want to try a hand at computer animation for starters."
Employers from multinational companies were asked to attend a special pre-event to interact personally with the 21 artists and provide future opportunities for some.
Another graduating student, Deepti Rupani, feels her internship at The Media House will provide practical training that will be valuable for her career in advertising.
"The subjects we chose consists mainly of advertising concepts and design work that has a lot of aesthetic and practical value to it," she said.
Three judges were asked to select a "Best of Show", the person whose individuality was depicted through his or her work and whose designs were judged on entry-level talent in a company.
After personal interaction with all the students, the judges opted for Karen Bagdiong whose work revolved around giving a corporate identity to an educational centre for children, titled Billy Castle.
Professor Dale Clifford, Program Chair of the Visual Communication Department, said that what the students had achieved in a short while was spectacular and nothing could rival their hard work and dedication.
This was the first of an annual event and he assured the graduating students that they had the capabilities to work at any level.<
