Ladies day at Global Village popular

One of the most visited venues during the festival whose popularity has endured over the years is the Global Village, which is based at Festival City. Mondays are special days at the Village as ladies, both residents and tourists, enjoy their evening out at the DSF.

From the early hours of the afternoon when the village officially opens for business, cars make a beeline for the entrance.

One can see families with young children in tow, ladies enjoying a shopping day on their own and young students out to have a good time - everyone heading for the festival gates where security personnel and members of the Dubai Police ably manned the entrance ensuring that only females and those authorised enter the village.

Most women were moving around in groups trying to find bargains in the vast shopping arena.

June Flower from the UK, who is in Dubai visiting relatives, was truly amazed by the vast sea of ladies around her.

"I have heard about the festival and this year the weather was just perfect to make a visit. My hosts informed me that it was the best place to find curios from around the world at prices cheaper than the original destination. This is my first visit to the village and I plan to just look around before I make an elaborate shopping list."
