Kitab bus: Mobile library heads to Al Gharbia

Abu Dhabi: The Kitab bus, the National Mobile Library, reaches Al Gharbia in Abu Dhabi next week, in the first of a series of planned visits.

The destinations include schools in Liwa and Madinat Zayed. The bus aims to get maximum number of people on board to read their favourite books.

Launched in October at the Al Ain Reads Book Show, the Kitab bus, takes books right to peoples' doorsteps. The bus toured Al Ain in October and visited Abu Dhabi in November, stopping at schools and public places. It is a project conceptualised with the support of the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (Adach) and the Zayed Giving Initiative.

Juma Al Qubaisi, Director of the National Library and the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, said: "Extending educational opportunities to all communities right across Abu Dhabi is the only way to build a true knowledge-based economy... we hope to inspire people to develop a thirst for knowledge and greater learning."
