S.C. Kim shot a fine 77 to win the men's competition at the Al Ghazal Transport Cup held at the Al Ghazal Golf Club last week.
Kim's showing gave him the top prize ahead of Bernie Blanchard and Dennis Cox. The best first day prize went to Ryan Cox, while the second day's honours were bagged by Nicolas Genet, who also achieved the longest drive.
In the ladies competition, Linda Chew took the top place with 34, while Sue Murray and Karen Mounib followed in the next two places.
H.J. Park claimed the Turner Trophy sponsored by Costain in another competition held at the Al Ghazal Golf Club.
Anne Reynolds came in second, while Marianne Vander Poel settled for third. In the subsidiary, top honours went to Eleanor Young with 70 and Emily Gordon was te runner-up.
Al Ghazal Golf Club won against Al Ain Golf Club in a friendly competition between the two clubs.
The men's longes drive went to Brian Starkie, while Perie Cillie took the nearest pin award. The ladies longest drive went to Valerie Lewis and Eleanor Young took the nearest pin. The best lady was V. Leyland and the best man was Ian Wilkes.
In Lee kept off a chasing pack of golfers at bay by two shots to clinch a thrilling win in the April Omega Monthly Medal at the Dubai Creek and Yacht Club last week.
Lee produced a fine net score of 65 to win by two shots from his pursuers. Playing off a 6 handicap, Lee started his round on the 11th hole with a bogey 5 before reeling off two birdies in his next four holes to stand at 1 under par.
