Dubai: Police are said to be investigating a burglary in a Hattan villa in Emirates Living where a thief reportedly stole some jewellery and a SUV.

It’s believed the incident took place on Sunday when the villa owners were on vacation.

It is not immediately clear who discovered the theft and reported it to police. However, police and CID officials were seen questioning people for hours in front of the villa that faces The Lakes community.

“We heard about the burglary. Later we saw several policemen,” said a neighbour. A security guard confirmed the incident, saying a four-wheel drive and some jewellery had been stolen.

“I have been living here for over eight years and this is the first time I have heard about a theft,” said a shocked Hattan resident. “I am thinking of beefing up security at my house,” he added.
