More than 80 employees of Oman Insurance Co (OIC) lined up to donate blood at the company recently.

The drive raised more than 67 pints of blood, a valuable help for the people who need them, especially children with thalassemia.

"Part of being a quality company is to recognise one's responsibilities towards society," said a company official about the blood donation drive.

The donors comprised all categories of employees, including the top management of OIC.

After short listing a number of blood banks in Dubai, the group has invited Al Wasl Blood Bank to undertake this worthwhile exercise.

According to Al Wasl Blood Bank, the donated blood will help children with thalassemia, who require blood transfusions every month. The blood bank expressed its gratitude to the OIC management and staff for their humanitarian gesture.

OIC staff also pledged to be on standby should the bank need extra blood in the future. The same activity will be done soon in the company's Abu Dhabi branch.
