Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) is launching a risk based inspection system for imported foods, an official said.

It will be a more effective system, inspecting the food items based on three categories — high risk, medium risk and low risk, Mohammad Jalal Al Reyaysa, Manager of Communication and Information Department at ADFCA said.

Phase one of the system will be implemented at Zayed Port this month, he said.

It will minimise the human resources involved in the inspections at the borders, the official said.

ADFCA conducted a workshop on the system for importers, clearance agents and shipping agents on Wednesday evening at the hall of Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
