Dubai: The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has come out with updated regulatory policies and guidelines for the health care sector in the emirate.

These guidelines and policies would attract more investment to Dubai's health care sector, while at the same time make international accreditation easier and ensure greater safety for patients.

"The update would help us attract more investors and also bring the best health care policies in the world to Dubai.

For the patients, it means more safety and reliable treatment," Dr Ramadan Ebrahim, Director of Health Regulation at the DHA, told Gulf News.

Consultation

"The update is presently in the draft stages and is up for consultation so that we can receive any further feedback from the health sector. The health sector has been closely involved from the beginning of the project and this is the last stage before we shortly announce the finalisation of these regulatory policies and guidelines," he added.

The updates include six regulations on hospitals, day care surgical centres, outpatients, diagnostic imaging, clinical laboratory and home health care.

The guidelines are for health records, health facility, including planning, designing, construction and commissioning of health care facilities, and for prevention of dental infections and safety standards.
