Contaminated baby milk powder not sold in the UAE

Dubai: The tainted baby milk formula that reportedly causing illness among more than 6,200 infants in China, is not available in the UAE.

On Wednesday, Chinese authorities announced that three babies have died from ingesting toxic milk.

Amr Farghal, General Manager, Fonterra, has confirmed that the tainted milk was not imported to the UAE.

“The issue relating to the safety of China milk powder products is confined only to products made from China sourced raw milk, sold by San Lu in mainland China. None of the batch in question was exported out of China."

New Zealand dairy co-operative Fonterra owns 43 per cent of Sanlu.

Taiwan News previously reported that Taiwan is the only place outside China where the tainted milk has been sold.
