Gulf News readers ready to pay Sanan's fee

Dubai: The generosity of Dubai is yet again pouring in, this time for a four-year-old girl who was thrown out of her class for non-payment of fees.

Gulf News readers have come forward to offer help for Sanan, the KG 1 student of the Winchester school who was not allowed to attend classes on Monday after her jobless mother failed to pay her fees despite warnings.

Gulf News reported the story on Tuesday after the girl's mother complained that her daughter was put through an embarrassing experience of being taken out of the class because her parents failed to pay her term fee.

"This is not at all acceptable as many schools in UAE are operating only for money. If all these years Sanan's parents were paying the fees without any delay, why did the school not consider it? I am ready to pay part of the pending fees until her mother gets a job," said Manoj, a reader.

"The school could have informed the parents beforehand that she would not be allowed into the classroom from March 24. By expelling a little child like this, the school demonstrated that they do not understand child psychology," commented Praveen, another reader.

Responding to the responses from readers, Sanan's mother Shalini Joseph said she is moved by the consideration and kindness of Dubai residents. "I have never asked for anybody's help. But in this situation, I would accept some help only because it will benefit my children," said Shalini.

Raminder Vig, Principal of Winchester school said they had to take action for non-payment of fees as notices were sent to the parent. "We have an outstanding amount of Dh580,000 not paid in fees till date. And the number of students who have delayed their fee for two and three months amount to more than 320," he said.
