Dubai: The UAE has been elected to become a member of the Postal Operations Council (POC) of the Universal Postal Union (UPU).

The Postal Operations Council (POC) is a 40-member-country council that assumes several responsibilities, including supervising all UPU activities, discussing how to maintain the quality of the international postal service and strengthening the business, modernising the services and promoting international technical cooperation, and approving the UPU budget every two years.

The UAE’s addition to the council by the 190-member Universal Post Union, which directs global postal policies and advancement, represents an expression of confidence in the member country.
