Committee also approves replacement of 130 old houses
Abu Dhabi: The President’s Initiatives Follow-up Committee has approved the immediate replacement of 130 old houses for Emiratis, and the comprehensive maintenance of 338 other properties, all across the UAE. The old houses to be replaced were built before 1990.
The decision was taken yesterday by the Committee at a meeting chaired by Ahmad Juma Al Za’abi, Chairman of the Committee and Deputy Minister for Presidential Affairs.
The committee is acting on the instructions of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to provide quality of life and social stability for all Emiratis, Al Za’abi noted.
Shaikh Khalifa announced the launch of a new housing programme on UAE National Day, 2012. The programme aims to build 10,000 housing units throughout all regions of the Emirates, on UAE National Day, 2012.
He also pointed out that the directives of Shaikh Khalifa for prioritising the needs of this particular segment of the population in order to strengthen social cohesion across the UAE.
The effort is in line with the vision of the wise leadership for the highest welfare standards for nationals, he added.
The committee surveyed over 80 per cent houses constructed before 1990, as part of a plan to replace them with 10,000 new houses.
