Garbage, a sore sight in Al Bahiya

Waste that cannot fit into trash bins is ruining the area's beauty

One of the most beautiful places of Abu Dhabi happens to be Al Bahiya, with its long Corniche extending to Al Rahba and Al Samha.

The area has small islands around and beautiful parks. One particular children's park even allows children to learn about and play with animals and birds.

However, in recent weeks, danger is lurking in the area, in the form of uncleared garbage.

The garbage bins are getting emptied regularly, but for reasons unknown, the tree branches and discarded residential furniture that is kept around the bins are never picked up.

This type of garbage is kept outside the bins, owing to the size of the waste that cannot fit into the containers. People leave this large waste outside in the hope that the municipality will clear it out.

Alas, the garbage still remains and is cause for concern, as it has become a breeding ground for all kinds of diseases. A large number of flies and mosquitos are attracted to it.

I believe this effect is also due to the prevailing pleasant weather.

Hence, I request the authorities concerned to please prioritise this issue and help make Al Rahba one of the safest and cleanest areas to live in, within the capital.

Although garbage bins are regularly emptied in Al Rahba area of Abu Dhabi, a lot of waste in the form of tree branches and furniture is being ignored, according to Gulf News reader Ramnarendran Somasundaram.
