A Sri Lankan expat has gone from a casual Dh100 win to pocketing a whopping Dh100,000, and now he’s daring to dream even bigger – the Dh100 million jackpot.

Yasitha Prasanna, 29, struck the unexpected windfall as the Lucky Chance winner in the UAE Lottery draw.
His journey began on a whim after spotting a promotion for the UAE’s first and only official, government-regulated lottery.

“I just saw an ad one day on Instagram, and then I registered with the UAE Lottery,” he said at the draw studio.

His luck kicked in from day one.

“I bought two tickets the first time, and I won Dh100,” he recalled.

But nothing prepared him for what came next.

“I didn’t watch the live draw. I just received an email, then I clicked that one, and it showed me that I had won Dh100,000. And I was excited.”

With the life-changing win, Prasanna already knows what comes first.

“I am planning to go to Sri Lanka with my mommy and daddy,” he said. “I also plan to invest in a business. Next time, maybe we will meet again with the jackpot. Dare to imagine.”

From a lucky click to a dream payout, Prasanna is now part of the growing list of UAE residents testing their fortune and setting their sights on the grand prize.
