Fire destroys warehouse in Sharjah industrial area

Sharjah: A huge fire gutted a warehouse in industrial area 11 on Wednesday morning, a senior civil defence official confirmed.

The fire broke out at 11.30am. Teams were dispatched from Samnan station and the Sharjah Civil Defence headquarters in Sajja and Muwaileh to control the fire, Brigadier General Abdullah Saeed Al Suwaidi, Director-General of Sharjah Civil defence, told Gulf News.

He said: "We immediately took the necessary precautions in the neighbourhood in order to prevent further spread since the materials in the warehouses were highly inflammable."

The cause of fire is still under investigation. There were no reports of casualties.
