Huge fire engulfs storage area for wood and waste in industrial area
Sharjah: A huge fire broke in the early hours of Wednesday morning in a fenced land in the Saja industrial area, Colonel Sami Khamis Al Naqbi, Director General of Sharjah Civil Defence, told Gulf News.
The land was used as a storage area for wood and waste, he said. The fire broke out at 2.18am and continued until 4.30am.
Firefighters from Sharjah and from Ajman Civil Defence worked together and controlled the blaze before it spread to adjacent diesel tanks.
No causalities were reported.
Firefighters are continuing cooling operations in the site.
Police are launching an investigation to find out what caused the blaze.
