Film on Everest peace climb out on DVD

Dubai: The story of the Everest Peace Project, when nine peace climbers from different faiths and cultures climbed the tallest peak in the world in 2006, has been released on DVD.

The focus of the climb was on Dubai based Palestinian Ali Bushnaq and Israelis Dudu Yifrah and Micha Yaniv who worked side by side during the expedition.

The 63-minute documentary film, narrated by Hollywood actor Orlando Bloom, has the blessing of the Dalai Lama, who said: “The Everest Peace Project's film Everest: A Climb for Peace is a tremendous achievement from several points of view."

"Not only does it document a spectacular climb of the world's tallest mountain, but it also shows how the project brought together people from different faiths and cultures, who worked successfully as a team to accomplish their goal,'' the Buddhist spiritual leader said.

The Everest Peace Project was formed in October, 2002, when founder Lance Trumbull was trekking in India.

On top of a mountain, overlooking valleys, he was suddenly inspired to from a project that would enable people from different faiths and cultures to "unite the world on top of the world."
