Fatima donates Dh2m for ADWA

Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Wife of the President and Chairperson of the UAE General Women's Union (GWU), has donated Dh2 million to the Abu Dhabi Women's Association to finance the Child Foundation Project.

The donation was made during Sheikha Fatima's visit yesterday to the association's head office.

She lauded 'the great role' played by the Abu dhabi Women's Association (ADWA) in the past three decades in serving women's issues and preparing UAE's girls to take their share in the development of their country.

Sheikha Fatima said ADWA, which was founded in 1973, was a cornerstone of all successes attained by women, thanks to the encouragement of President His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the number one supporter of women.

Sheikha Fatima was briefed on the future plans of the association.

She expressed delight at the progress of the ADWA's work, particularly the adoption of the prisoners' family project in collaboration with the Red Crescent Authority.

Sheikha Fatima also hailed the association's embracement of projects such as the Child Foundation, Sheikh Zayed Quran and Hadith Academy.
