Sharjah Ruler sets up natural reserves

Sharjah: His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, on Tuesday issued two decrees setting up natural reserves in the emirate.

Decrees No. 1 and 2 of 2018 stipulate the establishment of Al Medayna and Jebel Buhais natural reserves.

The decrees prohibit activities that would damage or deteriorate the ecosystem and cause wildlife or maritime damage. An article in the decree states that no activities, actions or acts should be carried out in the areas surrounding the reserve unless a permit from the competent authority is obtained.
