Hot weather in UAE to ease by Saturday
Al Ain: Temperature has shot up to the maximum level in the month across the country with Al Ain being the hottest city that faced a record seasonal heat.
The sizzling hot weather is little mild on Thursday, the conditions are still unbearable out in the open. The Met department recorded 48 degree Celsius in the Oasis city while the conditions are also very hot in other cities.
A weatherman at the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) said the conditions are very hot but not unusual. May is generally a hot month of the year in which humidity level also goes down. The maximum high temperature in Dubai on Thursday is 45 degree Celsius.
He said the conditions will remain hot to very hot in general in the next 24 hours in the country with hazy conditions at times.
The current boiling hot south-easterly winds are expected to change with the cooler Shamal (westerly) winds by Saturday afternoon.
Have you started feeling the heat? What steps do you take to stay cool during the summer?
What a question? of course its summer and we all have felt the heat and in fact its getting worse. all what we can do is hide our self under the shade. try to avoid going to the beach, drink a lot of water in order to not get dehydrated. I wonder how the heat is going to be in the month of July and August. all the best. lets all take care of ourselves.

I remember when I was working in Abu Dhabi we use to wait till the sunset to do our daily exercises on the Abu Dhabi Corniche. After work we go home sweating which is a blessing in disguise you loose weight. Everybody have a cold shower at home and settle with a fresh fruit juice and have a good meal, watch TV and hit the bed in a healthy way. I think this is the best way to beat the heat. Instead of disliking it, act positively to take the advantage of it for good health.

Close your window blinds, especially on the sides of your house that receive the most sunlight during the day. With the blinds closed some of the heat will be reflected instead of being absorbed into your home. While it is nice to have natural sunlight coming into your home, it also brings in a lot of heat. Keeping your blinds closed during the day will also give your air conditioner a break since it won't have to work as hard to keep your house cool. Seal around windows and doors. If you can see light coming from under your exterior doors, or can feel air coming in around your doors and windows, then that is a route for hot air to enter your home. You will need to reseal these areas to make your home more efficient. An easy way to seal a window is to open the window and place self-stick foam weather-stripping under the bottom of the window, this will help to fully seal the bottom. You may also caulk around the edges of the windows to seal them. To seal your exterior doors remove and replace the old weather-stripping. The easiest to use is the self-stick weather-stripping. All you have to do is cut it to length and remove the backing to expose the adhesive and press it into place. Cook and do your laundry at night. Both of these are necessities of life. However, both produce quite a bit of heat. By cooking and doing laundry later in the day you can stop fighting your air conditioner. When the stove and clothes dryer are on they are generating heat that your air conditioner is having to compensate for. By doing these later in the evening it will be cooler outside and your air conditioner will not have to work as hard to keep your home cool.

Well the heat has reached the maximum of what I have noticed since my being in UAE (1999). And this is the hottest I may have seen in my life and in UAE specially. being from a country where temperatures are maximum to 25 degrees (Kabul) I think I have to leave or stay at home day time and finish my work at night times. And my suggestion to is to decrease the working period for workers in all sectors to 6 hours only. Drink water too much and that is the only solution and get away from fizzy drinks as they give you extra sugar in it which brings you more heat.
