Heavy cloud cover leads to drop in temperature in the UAE

Dubai: Cloud cover looming over the UAE on Thursday is because of the heavy Indian monsoon currents coming in from the Arabia Sea. It has also helped in the drop of temperatures about 3 to 4 degrees, according to Dubai Met Office.

There has been thunderstorm over the sea and heavy rains in Mumbai, India, over the past days. The rains have moved north to Pakistan, but there is no chance of rain in the UAE, according to Dr S.K. Gupta, duty forecaster. "The clouds are very high," he said.

North-westerly winds will again start blowing on Friday and will continue on Saturday and Sunday, whipping up dust and dropping visibility.

The mercury has dipped, but there is not much difference in the day or night time conditions. June is usually hotter in the high 40s. Night time temperature will range between 29 to 30 degrees Celsius.

With the high cloud cover and the winds, humidity will be bearable in the evenings and there is no chance of fog in the mornings, the duty forecaster said.

Sharjah weather bureau warns that the sea will be rough from Friday onwards because of the strong winds. "It's not good for the fishermen," said the forecaster.
