Clean up drive to be held in Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi: More than 350 volunteers from private and government sectors will join hands on October 20 as part of a clean-up campaign organised by the Environment Agency-Abu Dhabi (EAD) to mark Clean-Up the World 2007.
Every year, Environment Agency-Abu Dhabi (EAD) supports the Clean-Up the World global initiative by organising a clean-up campaign in Abu Dhabi. This year the volunteers would clean up the Fisherman's Wharf at the Mina Port.
The clean-up will begin at 8am at the Mina Port near the Fishermen's Wharf and it is expected to go on till 10am.
The area will be cleared of marine debris and litter which otherwise would end up in the sea harming the UAE's fragile biodiversity and affecting swimmers and fishermen's livelihoods. The campaign aims to encourage community contribution to environment protection efforts and also to improve the environmental awareness of the public.
