Emirati women praised for their achievements
Dubai: Emirati women are gaining more recognition for achievements in social, political and economic activities.
"Many organisations in the country have women at the helm, reiterating their special capabilities to either lead or rise to top positions through diligence and devotion," said Reem Ebrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State, at a Dubai Women's Establishment meeting in which female leaders were honoured.
"Women in the UAE have consistently proved their mettle and improved their reputation globally, defying sceptics."
Reem added that women are not subjected to any gender disparity in the country, due to the support of Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
She highlighted government efforts to provide management and leadership training programmes that encourage female participation.
"We recognise the importance of leadership in our lives and in our society. Each one of us can be a role model helping the growth of the country and participating in all activities to achieve comprehensive development," she added.
The Dubai Women's Establishment has drawn up a five-year plan to support women in the community.
Mona Al Merri, Chair of the board of the Dubai Women's Establishment, said: "We have initiated several programmes for the benefit of women with the active participation of various private and public sector organisations."
