Career segment to be introduced

Dubai: A recruitment and career segment will be introduced next year as part of the Gulf Education and Training Exhibition (GETEX), said event organisers yesterday on the last day of the event.

The 19th edition of the exhibition was held at the Dubai International Exhibition and Convention Centre.

"We have noticed that there is a gap between the education sector and the professional world. Children now spend a lot of money on education and come out at the end unprepared for work," said Rite Handa, marketing and communication manager of the International Conferences and Exhibitions, the organisers of GETEX.

Sharing experiences

"The new career segment will bring employers to the event where they will meet the students, share experiences as well as receive resumes from job applicants."

The event this year attracted more than 18,000 students. However, a number of students have complained about the decrease in number of international universities.
