Woman claims fear drove her to have sex with officers

Dubai: The trial of a policeman and a corporal who reportedly raped a drunk woman on her way back home started on Thursday.

The 28-year-old woman from Uzbekistan alleged that the officers in uniform scared her and she surrendered. The suspects claim that they 'had consensual sex' with the woman identified as O.K. The Public Prosecution charged the two police personnel, 25-year-old Yemeni A.S. and 23-year-old Emirati S.M. of having sex with the woman against her will. A.S. was solely charged with unlawfully searching the woman.

The defendants denied the charges before the Dubai Court of First Instance.

The victim testified: "I was walking back home about 3.30am. I saw the suspects heading towards me, so I got scared because I was drunk and had no residency and ran away.

"They raped me between the second and third storey in the building where I was staying."

The Uzbek victim alleged that she was afraid of them and agreed to have sex with them after they had taken her purse.

"They agreed to give back my purse after consenting to have sex with them," she claimed.

Records said she reported the incident at a police station. The duty officer at the station tracked the officers and the victim identified the suspects.
