We feel safe and secure, say residents

Dubai: Residents across the country praised Dubai Police for arresting three of the gang members who were involved in the robbery of a jewellery store at Wafi City.

Dubai Police announced the arrest of the three suspects in connection with the heist, two in the UAE and one in an East European country, while the hunt continues for the others. The robbers targeted the Graff store on April 15 in a daring robbery, as they broke into the shopping mall in two cars and took off with the jewellery.

Residents commended Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Chief of Dubai Police and all the teams involved in the arrest for maintaining security and safety in the city.

"While the gang attempted to destabilise the city, Dubai Police foiled their attempt and assured us of safety and security in the country," said Ahmad Ebrahim, an Emirati government official from Sharjah.

He said the professionalism of Dubai Police is undoubtable and so is their dedication to ensuring order in the city.

"We were certain that the gang will be captured by Dubai Police in a very short time," he added. "While I was deeply impressed by the performance of Dubai Police, I never lost faith in Dahi Khalfan and his brave men," said Nadine Naseef a Syrian resident in Sharjah.

She said, "All praise to Allah who helped Dubai Police in accomplishing this task and arresting the gang," she said.

According to Waleed Omair, a Saudi national, the incident was shocking, but life went back to normal due to the safety measures.

"We were eager to know when and how the arrests will happen. The short time in which the arrests took place exceeded our expectations," Omair said.

Emad Khalil, a Jordanian government employee said considering Dubai's rapid development, these incidents should be expected.

"I trust security bodies in the country because we feel safe and secure, even with the presence of more than 200 nationalities here," he said.
