Visitor in court for assault
Dubai: A Bahraini visitor has claimed that he pushed away a customs inspector who tried to strangle him and denied assaulting him when he was being searched at the airport.
"The inspector grabbed my neck really hard with both his hands and I pushed him away because I was about to suffocate& I didn't assault him. However, I might have injured his face with my wristwatch but I didn't intend to do so. I am not guilty," argued the 31-year-old visitor when he defended himself before the Dubai Court of First Instance.
The Public Prosecution charged the defendant, E.A., with beating the Emirati customs inspector who was doing his job as a law enforcement officer. He was also charged with resisting arrest.
The suspect rejected all his charges and pleaded innocent before Presiding Judge Abdul Majid Al Nezamy. A verdict will be heard soon.
