Dubai: An American has been found dead in a hotel room in Dubai, police confirmed on Sunday. According to media reports, the man was a prominent Iranian politician's son.

Brigadier Khalil Ebrahim Al Mansouri, Director of Dubai Police's Criminal Investigation Department, said there were no criminal suspicions behind the death.

According to reports, the man found dead in his hotel room was a son of prominent conservative Mohsen Rezaei, who ran against President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in 2009.

"The 30-year-old US citizen has been suffering from epilepsy for a long time, and there is no criminal suspicion," Brig. Al Mansouri said.

Mohsen Rezaei is secretary of Iran's powerful Expediency Council, an advisory body to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
