Ministry of Health sacks employees for forgery and abuse of power

Dubai: Two employees of the Ministry of Health have been sacked after they were convicted of forging government documents and abusing power, it was announced on Thursday.

The announcement was made by Dr Salem Al Darmaki, acting director general, as he chaired the first meeting of the Committee of Violations.

"The ministry will not show leniency towards any ministry staff who are found guilty of committing violations that cause damage to the public interest or the reputation of the ministry," Al Darmaki said.

He added that the committee is examining violations which were committed by the ministry staff and were reported by individuals or various parties in line with the directives of Dr Hanif Hassan, Minister of Health, who stressed the need to achieve transparency while dealing with any issue related to transactions and practices at the ministry's various departments and medical and healthcare facilities.

"Transparency is an indispensable principle to ensure improvement of health services," Al Darmaki said.

He confirmed that any violation of laws and regulations governing the health sector would not be tolerated.

The committee upheld the conviction of an employee after it was proven his involvement in forging government documents. The committee approved to end his services.

The second case involves another employee who abused his power as a health inspector to provide special services to some private medical institutions. The committee found the employee guilty of abuse of power and accordingly terminated his services.

Al Darmaki warned against any attempt to abuse authority or position in the ministry.
